KUALA SELANGOR, Dec 3 — Universiti Selangor (Unisel) remains at a good pace and has been unaffected by the Covid-19 pandemic in these past two years, said Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari.

He said various efforts and strategies were implemented by the management to ensure the academic programmes, teaching, learning, as well as student welfare could progress smoothly.

“Realising the education world has changed following the pandemic, particularly for teaching and learning, Selangor has allocated RM3 million to Unisel for the increase of its Internet speed on the Shah Alam campus from 500MB to 1GB, and the Bestari Jaya campus from 1.5GB to 5GB,” Amirudin said.

He was speaking at Unisel’s 16th Convocation ceremony, at the Bestari Jaya campus’ Dewan Canselor, earlier today.

Officiated by its Chancellor Raja Tan Sri Datuk Seri Arshad Alhaj Raja Tun Uda Alhaj, the convocation, lasting for two days until tomorrow, celebrated 1,319 graduates.

In his capacity as the chairman of Unisel’s board of directors, Amirudin congratulated the university’s leadership for constantly offering various initiatives that enable all walks of life and backgrounds to enjoy education.

“It began with the Skim Dermasiswa offer, which is free basic year tuition fees, and now Unisel via its Health Sciences Faculty has made strides by offering the Selangor Frontline Apprenticeship (Selfa) programme.

“Adding to this is the strengthening of industry collaboration, where students have the opportunity to get full scholarships and guaranteed employment after graduation with private hospitals include the Sri Kota Medical Center and Avisena Specialist Hospital,” he said.
