Moderate earthquake hits Luzon, Philippines

KUALA LUMPUR, May 4 — A moderate earthquake measuring 5.4 on the Richter scale was detected in Luzon, the Philippines, at 8.49am today.

The Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia), in a statement today, stated that the earthquake occurred 64 kilometres (km) east of Tuguegarao City, in the Philippines, at a depth of 45km.

However, it posed no tsunami threat to Malaysia.
