Selangor Speaker awaits official order to dissolve state assembly

SHAH ALAM, 18th May – Selangor Speaker Ng Suee Lim has not yet received the official order and application letter from Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari to dissolve the State Legislative Assembly and pave the way for the anticipated state elections.

He said he will sign the notice for the dissolution after obtaining royal consent from the Sultan of Selangor Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah Alhaj.

“If the MB (Amirudin) is granted an audience and receives consent from His Royal Highness, I will ensure all proceedings are carried out smoothly.

“The notice requesting the dissolution of the State Legislative Assembly will then be submitted to the Election Commission (SPR), paving the way for the state election,” Ng said, as reported by Utusan Malaysia.

He was speaking during the launching ceremony of Homestay Villa Chee and D’Bendang Seafood Restaurant in Sekinchan, yesterday evening.

Previously, it was reported that Amirudin is expected to meet Sultan Sharafuddin in the second or third week to discuss the dissolution of the State Legislative Assembly, which will automatically take place on 25th June.

Ng, who also Sekinchan state assemblyman, added that all matters pertaining to the 14th session of the State Legislative Assembly have been concluded within a two-week period, starting from 14th March.

“This means my responsibility as the Speaker presiding over the assembly sessions for a term of five years has come to an end. We are now only waiting for the most suitable date for the dissolution of the State Legislative Assembly,” he said.
