GOMBAK, May 21 — Taman Templer state assemblyman Mohd Sany Hamzan has announced he will not defend his seat in the anticipated Selangor state elections this year.

He said the decision was made with respect to Parti Amanah Negara’s instructions, wherein its members cannot compete for two seats.

“It is with a heavy heart I leave Taman Templer, as I consider the residents here like family. But I pray, InsyaAllah, my successor will be more able to carry out their responsibilities and provide a voice to the community.

“On my part, I will focus on major responsibilities in the Hulu Langat parliamentary constituency, to ensure infrastructure, development and other issues can be speedily resolved,” Mohd Sany said.

He was speaking to the press at the Hari Raya Aidilfitri open house for the Selayang parliamentary constituency and the Taman Templer state constituency, Dataran Ilmu Bandar Baru Selayang yesterday evening.

Responding to queries over problems or issues which were resolved during his tenure serving Taman Templer, Mohd Sany said they include flooding, traffic congestion, street lights, derelict housing projects, waste, and potholes on roads.

“One other thing is obtaining the state government’s approval for the construction of a public hall which can accommodate four badminton courts, worth over RM5 million, around the Selayang administrative area. The groundbreaking ceremony is expected to take place in July.

“Prior to this, Taman Templer did not have its own hall and had to use the community hall, which was not that big,” he said.
