SHAH ALAM, Sept 5 — Four sports associations will meet with state government representatives on preparations for Sukan Malaysia (Sukma) 2024.

Youth and Sports Development Committee chairman Mohd Najwan Halimi said state boxing, muay thai, petanque and e-sports groups will provide details on their participation in Sukma 2024 in Sarawak.

“These four new events were announced recently and it took time for briefing and prep sessions. We will hold the meeting first and consider further moves.

“For other events, the Selangor contingent has begun preparations and is aiming for the top spot. We hope to repeat our Sukma 2016 victory in Sarawak,” he said.

In March, Youth and Sports Minister Hannah Yeoh after chairing the Sukma Supreme Committee meeting, said Sarawak was chosen to host the 2024 iteration.

Twenty-eight mandatory sporting events will be held at Sukma 2024 in Sarawak — aquatics (swimming and diving), weightlifting, badminton, cycling (track and on-road), gymnastics (artistics and rhythmic), golf, fencing, archery, shooting, athletics, sailing, hockey, judo, table tennis, taekwondo, karate, lawn bowling, pencak silat, sepak takraw, tenpin bowling, wushu, football, rugby, netball, basketball, volleyball and tennis.
