SERI KEMBANGAN, OCT 27: State government’s focus for 2017 is to make Selangor a cleaner state with various efforts and collaboration between state agencies and citizens.
Local Government, New Village Development and Illegal Factory Legalisation Exco Ean Yong Hian Wah said that among the efforts are the pilot project involving Klang Municipal Council and KDEB Waste Management Sdn Bhd (KDEBWM), which provides 60 new compactor trucks to solve the Klang domestic waste problem.
“The pilot project appears successful In resolving the domestic waste issue in the area. It has also received positive response from the people and we are actively taking action against illegal dumpsites.
“I have read various enquires for the upcoming Selangor State Legislative Assembly hearings and found that issues related to illegal waste dumping has been reduced,” he told SelangorKini on October 26.
Previously, Ean Yong had distributed water supplies in his DUN area, of which some are Taman Bukit Serdang, Seri Kembangan New Village and Taman Muhibbah, which were affected by the Semenyih River water treatment plant pollution, since 23 October.
He said that three trucks had been driven to all affected DUN areas everyday to distribute water supplies and will continue to do so until the contamination problem is resolved.
At the same time, Ean Yong said that the State Government also intends to use the model adapted in Klang to other local authority areas in an attempt to resolve the domestic waste issue.
“What we have gained in Klang will be taken to other areas in Selangor as well and I believe the problem of domestic waste can be effectively resolved by the use of this model,” he said.
