Selangor is for all — no one a second-class citizen here, says MB

HULU SELANGOR, April 26 — All of the Selangor government’s initiatives are offered to the people in an equitable manner, irrespective of their race or their standing in society, says Menteri Besar Dato’ Amirudin Shari.

It has been the administration’s policy since 2008 to care for the welfare of everyone, and it does not single out a particular race, group or community for special attention, he said.

“This state is for all. We are a government that tries its best to provide and care for everyone.

“Even though I am a Muslim, I do not only focus on the Malays or on Muslims. I am determined to ensure that the Chinese and Indians in Selangor, whom I regard as friends and family, live well and in peace, too.”

Amirudin was speaking at an event to hand over subsidies for school bus fares for Tamil schools at the Batang Kali multipurpose hall, here, yesterday. The Poverty Eradication Blueprint Assistance Programme was also held in conjunction with the event.

According to the Menteri Besar, all the policies rolled out by his administration are fair in nature and serve to ensure that everyone gets the chance to improve on their lives and succeed in tandem.

“Being the leader of this state, it is my duty to ensure that all who reside here are looked after and provided for in the best possible way, so that equitable opportunities are within their reach in this very blessed state.

“These are not mere words and empty promises; it has been proven that we are able to care for every level of society. There are no second or third class citizens here. We are all equal as Selangor citizens,” he added.

At the event, Amirudin handed out school bus subsidy vouchers to 324 students of Sekolah Jenis Kebangsaan Tamil in Hulu Selangor that totalled RM97,200.

He also symbolically handed over RM133,400 to 26 entrepreneurs as part of the Poverty Eradication Blueprint Assistance Programme under Iltizam Selangor Penyayang.
