SHAH ALAM, OCT 13: A special education pilot program, ‘Mentor Tangan Bersih’ will embark on a tour to all kindergartens across Selangor, throughout the month of October.
Education, Human Capital Development, Science, Technology and Innovation Exco, Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad said the program targets to provide a structured learning from an early age to 20,000 children.
“The purpose of the program is to raise the awareness on the importance of personal hygiene and to prevent contagious diseases.
“We want the children from as young as three to four years old to realize the importance of sanitation and to instill the concept that prevention is better than cure’” he said to SelangorKini.
In the collaboration between Lifebuoy and Hooray, a total of 110 teachers from Petaling and Klang districts were selected as ‘mentor’ in the first tour, yesterday.
Nik Azmi said, the mentors will be guided by Lifebuoy in a structured manner to take care and educate children on hand hygiene.
‘With the help from 110 teachers, an estimated 4,000 children will benefit from the training.
“This would indirectly increase the teachers’ capacity and quality,” he said.
