Sultan presents RM1.7 million to Selangor Spastic Children’s Association

PETALING JAYA, OCT 18: His Royal Highness the Sultan of Selangor, Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah presented RM1.7 million in aid to the Selangor and Federal Spastic Children’s Association.
Contributions were made through collections from various non-governmental organisations (NGO) and individuals.
The Sultan also specially presented RM400,000 for the association to implement initiatives in support of the special children’s social services.
In the same development, the State Government also contributed RM100,000 through a cheque presented by Dato’ Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali to  Association President Dato’ Dr Lam Peng Chong.
In his speech, Lam expressed his gratitude for the contributions which will sustain the community services that they are carrying out for these children in the state.

He said, he will continue to serve these children to ensure they are provided with the same opportunities as other children.
“It does not matter how much money we get, we will still continue our services for these special children,” he said.
The Sultan had earlier spent nearly two hours mingling with the children.
He was accompanied by His Royal Highness Tengku Permaisuri Selangor, Tengku Permaisuri Norashikin and Raja Muda Selangor, Tengku Amir Shah.
Also present to accompany him were Dato’ Menteri Besar and his wife Datin Seri Shamshida Taharin.
This Spastic Children’s Centre is synonymous as a welfare centre that has always been the focus of the public, through its involvement in the special children’s social development.
The centre started operations in 1960 and has since been providing social assistance services to special children, particularly around Kuala Lumpur and Selangor.
In fact, the State Government has also been consistent in providing assistance in terms of facilities and operational improvements.
