160,000 Rohingya without food and medical aid

SHAH ALAM, NOV 23: About 160,000 Rohingya, who should have received food aid and medical supplies, have not been able to do so in the last 44 days.
The Time news portal reported the bitter situation adding on to their misery, as they face mass murder operations by the Myanmar military.
A spokesman for the Office of the Coordinator of Humanitarian Affairs in Myanmar, Pierre Peron, said that because of this, more than 3,000 children under five years old will not be able to receive treatment due to malnutrition, causing a 50% risk of death.
“Health assistance to 24,000 people has also been affected.
“The situation is very alarming considering the mortality rate of infants and pregnant women are four times higher in Maungdaw, than the whole of Myanmar,” he said.
Around 30, 000 Rohingya have been made homeless since the recent tensions erupted last month.
To date, a total of 30,000 of this ethnic minority have been placed in the area of Cox’s Bazar, Bangladesh.
Perlis Mufti Dr Mohd Asri Zainul Abidin said that he and the citizens of Malaysian are concerned about the fate of the Rohingya Muslims, and thus urged the Malaysia football team to withdraw from the AFF Cup in Myanmar.
He said this should be a protest against the horrible cruelty and injustice of the Myanmar government against Rohingya women, children and civilians who have been killed, raped and burned alive; and also against all other crimes against humanity committed under the power of the government of Myanmar.
“What is the meaning of sports without humanity. More than that, it is utmost cruelty towards a single ethnic group who are Muslims. Firmness from our government is much hoped for,” he said.
Perak PAS Youth urged the Malaysian government to bring the voice of the Muslim majority in Malaysia to OIC, PBB and Asean in hopes that the Rohingya ethnicity be given proper defence and justice.
The Malaysia Government should also urge the OIC, PBB and Asean to embargo and extend economic pressure as long as Myanmar does not stop the attacks and oppression.
