MB visits and presents aid to landslide victims

SERENDAH, NOV 29: Dato’ Menteri Besar, Dato’ Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali visited victims affected by the Taman Idaman landslide on November 29.
Mohamed Azmin arrived at the Balai Raya Kampung Dato’ Harun in Serendah as early as 8 am and listened to a briefing given by Hulu Selangor District Police Chief Superintendent R Supramaniam.
During the visit, Mohamed Azmin also went onsite to witness the progress of repair works conducted by the Selangor Public Works Department.
Also present were State Secretary Dato’ Mohd Amin Mohd Ahya, State Finance Officer Dato’ Nordin Sulaiman, Health, Welfare, Women and Family Development Exco Dr Daroyah Alwi; and Infrastructure, Public Amenities, Agricultural Modernisation and Agro-Based Industries Exco Zaidy Abdul Talib.

Dato’ Menteri Besar was also accompanied by Local Government, New Village Development and Illegal Factory Legalisation Exco Ean Yong Hian Wah and Investment, Small & Medium Industries, Trade and Transport Exco Dato’ Teng Chang Khim.
Islamic Religious Affairs, Malay Customs & Heritage, Rural & Traditional Villages Development Exco Dato’ Dr Ahmad Yunus Hairi, council members and state representatives were also present.
Concerned for the wellbeing of the 340 victims from 64 families, Mohamed Azmin also gave out financial aid from the Selangor Zakat Board as an initiative to reduce their burden caused by the recent landslide.
“I would like to express my gratitude to all responsible agencies who have worked around the clock to identify the cause of the landslide and to protect the welfare of residents here.
“We want technical and safety aspects to be given priority, so that this area is safe from any disaster,” he said.
He also said that the State Government sympathises with the people on what had happened, but is thankful that there are no casualties.
“Hopefully this contribution will help to ease the burden of victims here,” said Mohamed Azmin during the presentation ceremony.
