GPM Malaysia sends aid to Acheh

SHAH ALAM, DEC 9: The Global Peace Mission (GPM) Malaysia has begun sending its first relief mission to Acheh, Indonesia, on December 9, to assess the situation and deliver initial donations of RM10,000.
In a media statement, GPM is also in communications with LAZIS Dewan Da’wah Islamiyah Indonesia (DDII) and DDII Aceh to identify locations and requirements to mobilise the relief movement.
“GPM Malaysia will immediately send a relief mission to Acheh, with its first mission on December 9 involving two volunteers and delivering initial donations.
“While the earthquake did not cause a tsunami, the effects from this disaster has caused buildings to collapse; public properties, roads, mosques, places of worship and business premises to be damaged,
GPM is also extends its sympathy at the occurrence of the 6.4 magnitude earthquake in Pidie Jaya recently which has claimed more than 97 lives and caused hundreds to be injured.
The number of deaths and those injureds is understood to be still rising.
In following, GPM has launched ‘Tabung Prihatin ACEH’ in the name of Global Peace Mission to facilitate the public, particularly Malaysians who are concerned, in donating into a Maybank Islamic account – (5642-2161-1602) or Bank Islam account – (14-023-01-002-922-4).
