Selangor introduces ‘Food Truck’ retail license guidelines

SHAH ALAM, JAN 2: Selangor is the first state to introduce a ‘Food Truck’ business licence to allow operation of food business with this concept, in several areas in the state.
Youth, Sports, Culture and Entrepreneur Development Exco Amirudin Shari said the guidelines for a food truck business license is effective beginning 2017.
“The State Government just approved a new ‘Food Truck’ and ‘Smart Truck’ business license policy which makes the State the first state and leader in introducing a business license with this concept.
“The policy includes business operation requirements that can be initiated across the state in 2017,” he said.
He said that during a speech at the Food Mega Festival Launch Ceremony at Melawati Stadium, Shah Alam, on Saturday.
Businessmen who would like to run a food truck business can apply for the license from their local authorities.
Among guidelines to be adhered to in the license are suitability of location and not causing disturbances and traffic congestion.
Earlier, the State Government has issued the latest guideline and instructed local authorities to relocate stalls to suitable locations in order not to obstruct views, affect cleanliness and cause congestion in the city.
Among the latest ‘food truck’ locations gaining popularity are the Anggerik Mall Shah Alam parking area, Jalan Kenari USJ 1 and SS 15 Subang Jaya.
