BY NORHAYATI UMOR
PETALING JAYA, MAY 16: The Petaling Jaya City Council (MBPJ) is the third local authority to pledge the Ikrar Bebas Rasuah (IBR).
It Mayor, Dato’ Mohd Azizi Mohd Zain said, the initiative is a reminder to MBPJ employees to practice integrity and accountability in their tasks.
He said, MBPJ must always ensure all administration and operation expenses as well as revenue payments are well managed.

“What’s more important is that employees must prevent wastage and avoid themselves from abusing their powers and corruption.
“IBR emphasizes on the vows and promises made to strengthen the integrity agenda among civil servants to be more accountable in their job and avoid corruption,” he said at the monthly assembly and IBR MBPJ.
Mohd Azizi said the openness and accountability reflected by MBPJ by signing this declaration proves that efforts to fight corruption is not solely an executive responsibility.
“We are exposed to various forms of external threats and elements which could damage our credibility in performing our duties.
“I hope the MBPJ workforce will do their best without the need to be monitored. Maintain the integrity of civil servants as the pledge is futile without it,” he said.
