Rohingya Education Centre admired by international community

KLANG, JUNE 23: Although only operating from a shop lot, the Rohingya Education Centre (REC) located in Bangunan Maru here have managed gain the attention from international community.
REC Headmistress, Rosma Tazilah said, the education centre is also often visited by delegations from many countries including Europe.
She said, the delegates were impressed by the dedication shown by REC which is well known among the international community relating to refugees.
“Previously, REC was funded by the United Nations High Commisioner for Refugees (UNHCR) before Selangor Islamic Religious Council (MAIS) took over.
“Due to that we often receive foreign visitors such as from Germany, to observe the REC operations for themselves,” she said to SelangorKini in conjuction with the ‘One family, a bag of rice’ campaign, yesterday.
Rosma said, UNHCR also considered the REC teachers and staffs as professionals for giving full time service in the school.
However, she admits that REC has not received much attention from local community.
Until now, REC has 11 teachers.
