MDKS took action on house turned into used goods store

BY LIZAWATI MADFA
KUALA SELANGOR, OCT 11: The Kuala Selangor District Council (MDKS) conducted an operation to clean-up and seize a house in Bagan Pasir recently.
The Development Planning Department Director, Mohamad Yusli Askandar said the action was taken due to complaints from other residents who were uncomfortable with the house being turned into a store for used goods.
He said the owner was pre-warned to clean the house, but it was not done within the timeline given.
“Therefore, we conducted an operation to clean-up and seize the house as well as all recyclable items and object that can possibly contain water.
“We also conducted a counseling session to provide awareness on the negative impact of storing used goods continuously,” he said.
Mohamad Yusli said MDKS is seeking public’s cooperation to keep their houses clean to ensure the comfort of their neighbours and nearby residents.
He added that they can be fined not more than RM1,000 or jailed exceeding six months or both, according to the 1976 Local Government Act, subsection 82(5).
“MDKS encourages the community the lodge their complaints on MDKS’s services online through the SPARks application which can be downloaded for free from Play Store and App Store,” he said.
