KUALA LUMPUR: After making a conscience effort to wait and see how the Pakatan Harapan government carries themselves for the first 100 days, Umno veteran Hishammuddin Hussein now said that their ‘honeymoon period’ is almost over.
The former Defense Minister said that its about time that Pakatan Harapan pull up their socks and proceed with governing and administrating a country.
“To find fault with them so early in the day, it will not be fair. But now, its time to deliver. Now its very important that they come up to speed.”
“I think after giving them a breather for the last 100 days, now its time for them to govern and I hope they’ll do well sincerely,” he told reporters at the Parliament lobby today.
Hishammuddin who have been keeping a low profile after GE14, said that he is back and he will make his views heard, starting with the government’s policy on Saudi Arabia as well as their stand on King Salman Centre for International Peace.
Commenting on Putrajaya’s move to shut down the centre, Hishammuddin question if current defend Minister Mohamad Sabu have an alternative approach to defend the nation against extremism based terror attacks.
He said when it comes to security and defense of the country, the stakes are high and there is no room for mere rhetorical statement.
“I think its a loss. You can’t do it alone. If you want to pull out then what’s the alternative. Pulling out is one thing, how are they gonna face the threats.”
“Moving forward they must have a plan. There is no way wr can face IS (Islamic State) onslaught of terrorism in our region alone,” he said.
Upon the shutting down of the centre, it was reported that Mohamad had said that its role would be absorbed by the Malaysian Institute of Defence and Security, which also falls under the defence ministry jurisdiction.
