SSDU collaborates with GRAB on mobility solutions for the Selangor State

On the 4th of December 2018, SSDU signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with GRAB (Malaysia’s largest e-hailing provider) to explore the development of mobility solutions for the Selangor State.

The focus of the collaboration is to realise Smart Selangor’s Smart Traffic and Mobility Initiative objectives, which are to increase the use of public transportation, improve pedestrian mobility and traffic reduction in major city centres.

According to SSDU’s Managing Director, Dr Fahmi Ngah, this collaboration marks a significant milestone in enabling real-time data-based policies which will ensure more effective solutions to be deployed at both the state and local municipalities. Several new initiatives will be developed together, which will further improve the citizens experience of the Smart Selangor bus services.

“Grab believes that every Malaysian should benefit from the digital economy hence why we continue to provide easy access to safe and affordable transport, food delivery and mobile payments services through one mobile app. We firmly believe that through our services and capabilities, as well as working with our partners, we would be able to support in providing better mobility solutions.

Our aim is to be able to integrate our services with public transportation, allowing our customers to move seamlessly across multiple modes in one journey, reducing congestion while getting a more affordable ride”, said JJ Tan, Head of Business Development, Grab Malaysia.

SSDU is the Selangor state mandated entity that is responsible for planning and implementing Smart Initiatives to realise the vision of Selangor as a premier regional Smart State by the year 2025.

GRAB is one of the most frequently used O2O mobile platforms in Southeast Asia, providing the everyday services that matter most to consumers. Commute, eat, deliver shopping – and pay with one e-wallet.
