FAS AIMS TO BRING IN FEMALE REFEREES

PUNCAK ALAM – The Selangor Football Association (FAS) intends to bring  female referees on board by next year.

FAS secretary-general, Dr Johan Kamal Hamidon said his side was drafting several guidelines aimed at promoting the courts to women.

“If we look outside the country, active women involve themselves as referees in football but in Malaysia a little less.

“Hence, the FAS is committed to encouraging more women to work in the referee’s career,” he told the media after the FAS 2019 Referee Referee’s Referee and Referee Seminar Ceremony at the Yellow Red Football Academy Complex on Jan 6.

Commenting further, Dr Johan said there are many leagues in FAS from grassroots to veterans.

“Fitness training will be held for female referee candidates, while execution to place them in any league will be done in stages.

“Maybe for starters we’ll put them in a soccer game for kids like under 12 and so on,” he said.
