Bringing ‘Mangkuk Tingkat’ to Support Selangor’s Plastic-Free Mission

GOMBAK – The practice of bringing ‘mangkuk tingkat’ to replace the use of plastic bags should be a daily habit among the people in Selangor.

The Selangor Woman Welfare and Charity Speaker (PEKAWANIS), Masdiana Muhamad, said she has this practice when buying food at the Ramadan bazaar to ensure Selangor’s mission to become a plastic free state by 2025 is successful.

“During this Ramadan this time I use a ‘mangkut tingkat’ as it is easier to carry, and not to mention that the food is also safer as it is not exposed as it will be in a  plastic bag,” she said.

“Actually, not only during the Ramadan month, I also use a ‘mangkuk tingkat’ when buying lunch at the diner,” she added.

She said this while visiting the Ramadan Selayang Baru Bazaar with her husband, Selangor Menteri Besar, Amirudin Shari, yesterday evening.

Masdiana brought along a ‘mangkuk tingkat’ when buying a wide variety of food there to break fast.

Commenting further, Masdiana said the use of the ‘mangkuk tingkat’ has almost the same  concept as carrying their own bags when shopping at the supermarket.

“Imagine if more people are practicing this kind of culture,  our mission to reduce the use of plastic will surely succeed,” she said.
