Selangor Ready to Face High Tide Phenomenon


SHAH ALAM – The state government is preparing for the high tide phenomenon that is to occur from 1 September to 30 October, 2019.

The State Secretary’s Office said in a statement that five districts involving Klang, Kuala Langat, Sepang, Kuala Selangor and Sabak Bernam are expected to be affected by the phenomenon.

According to the statement, the phenomenon is expected to take place from 5 am to 8 am at 5.5 to 5.7 meters.

“This phenomenon is forecast to occur on 1 and 2 September, 29 September to 2 October, and 27 to 30 October at the state’s coastline,” it stated.

“In the event of heavy rainfall and strong wind conditions, the risk of flooding will increase.”

In this regard, the state government advised residents in areas with high risk to comply with the directions of the Security Authority from time to time.

On that note, a total of 21 relief centers will be set up in the four districts.
