KLANG 31, Oct 31 — Selangor Local Government, Public Transport and New Village Development Committee chairman Ng Sze Han says he hopes to see more allocation for the Smart Selangor Bus to be revealed in the Belanjawan Selangor 2020 (Selangor Budget 2020).

He said the public response towards the free bus service in the state has been well-received since it was launched in July 2015.

“The users enjoy the Smart Selangor Bus service and especially in Klang, the demand is very high.

“Aside from additional budget, I hope to see the state government improving existing plans that are in place,” he told the media after the launch of the Smart Selangor Parking (SSP) application at the Klang Municipal Council (MPK) level, here today.

Also present at the launch were MPK president Dato’ Mohamad Yasid Bidin dan Smart Selangor Delivery Unit (SSDU) managing director Dr Fahmi Ngah.

The Smart Selangor Bus has benefitted 38.6 million commuters through 41 routes across the state.

As of July 31 this year, the state administration has spent a total RM78.6 million for its operational and maintenance cost, which consist of over 130 buses operating daily.

Ng added that he is optimistic that Selangor Menteri Besar Amirudin Shari will be announcing several interesting initiatives for the public in the state budget, which will be tabled tomorrow at 3pm.

Meanwhile, Ng said 348,859 users have utilised the SSP application, which had exceeded over one million transactions.

He said the numbers were encouraging and reflect the public’s response towards supporting the state government’s agenda in developing Selangor into a smart state by 2025.

“To encourage the users to use the SSP application, the state government offers an additional RM1 credit for every RM50 top-up, which will automatically be credited into the individual SSP accounts for immediate use,” he said.

Ng said MPK is the latest local council in the state to utilise the SSP application.

Other local councils using the application are Petaling Jaya, Shah Alam, Subang Jaya, Kajang, Selayang, Ampang Jaya, Sepang, Kuala Selangor.
