SHAH ALAM, Dec 25 — Christmas is a season of joy, giving and unity, says Selangor Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari in his Christmas holiday wishes today.

He said the culture of visiting and helping one another is a Malaysian tradition that has been essential in the process of appreciation across religions and cultures.

“The peace and harmony achieved by the nation must be defended at all cost, as stated by the Sultan of Selangor, Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah in his recent 74th birthday address.

“Therefore, as a representative of the Selangor state government, I am pleased to wish everyone, regardless of religion and race, a Merry Christmas to the people of Selangor as well as to the Christians in Indonesia and the Philippines,” Amirudin said in his special address in conjunction with the Christmas celebration today.

Amirudin touched on the lessons learned from Jesus Christ, who he said brought the message of love, peace, and unity.

He said Jesus made a significant difference by touching aspects of human life such as music, art and culture in general.

Amirudin also urged the people to abide by the rule “do unto others as you would have them do unto you” in reference to the Golden Rule, which has been followed by Christians in general to ensure the practice of moral and ethics in daily life.
