Selcat to evaluate local council performance on Feb 20

SHAH ALAM, Feb 13 — The Select Committee for Competency, Accountability and Transparency (Selcat) will convene on February 20 to evaluate the performance of local authorities (PBTs) in the state.

Its chairman, Ng Suee Lim said 17 witnesses would be called in to have their statements recorded at the Selangor secretariat building (SUK), here.

“Among the witnesses are the Selangor Local Government, Public Transportation and New Village Development Committee chairman Ng Sze Han, Bukit Gasing assemblyman Rajiv Risyakaran, Jeram assemblyman Mohd Shaid Rosli and Port Klang assemblyman Azmizam Zaman Huri.

“Other witnesses include the mayor, the president, council members and representatives of the residents’ association,” he said at the annexe building of the Selangor state legislative assembly building, here yesterday.

Ng said issues such as waste delivery system and matters concerning empowering the local authorities would be raised in the session.

The Selcat members include Bukit Lanjan assemblyman Elizabeth Wong, Hulu Kelang assemblyman Saari Sungib, Banting assemblyman Lau Weng San, Bnadar Utama assemblyman Jamaliah Jamaluddin, Sungai Air Tawar assemblyman Rizam Ismail and Sijangkang assemblyman Datuk Dr Ahmad Yunus Hairi.
