SHAH ALAM, March 2 — The Selangor government has reviewed several flood-prone locations in the state in order to address the issue, said the state Infrastructure and Public Amenities, Agricultural Modernisation and Agro-based Industry Committee chairman.

Izham Hashim said the identified locations were scrutinised during a joint meeting with the Flood Task Force Committee, heads of related departments and local authorities, on February 28.

“Both long and short term flood mitigation steps will be refined based on the outcome of the meeting.

“The priority is to solve the pubic issues and provide the people with a comfortable life,” he said in a statement issued via his Facebook today.

Previously on November 12 last year, Izham had stressed that the state government would give its full commitment to address the flooding problems in several locations.

“Among the areas include Bandar Bandar, Ijok, Bukit Melawati, Kota Kemuning and Seri Serdang,” he said.

The 2020 Selangor Budget had allocated RM84.4 million to the Selangor Drainage and Irrigation Department (DID) in an effort to reduce frequent floodings.

Of this, RM52.19 million was allocated to the development of the flood mitigation project, RM26.84 million for drainage upgrade, RM700,000 for river basin development and RM960,000 for water and hydrological resource development.
