SHAH ALAM, March 23 — The incentive announced by the Selangor government to hawkers and petty traders would be able to boost moral support while facing the trying times following the implementation of the movement control order.
State executive councillor Nge Sze Han said the RM500 one-off financial assistance would be able to lessen the burden towards those who are losing their source of income caused by the worsening Covid-19 pandemic.
“There is no doubt that the order has given an impact on the economy, especially for hawkers and petty traders who are losing their daily source of income.
“However, the public must abide by the order in order to contain the spread of Covid-19, and the state government would help accordingly,” he told SelangorKini when contacted today.
On March 2020, Selangor Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari had announced the state stimulus package, which includes a rental exemption for some 80,000 hawkers and to ease their financial burden.
They will also receive a one-off RM500 cash aid to manage their cash flow, which amounts to a total allocation of RM40 million.
The application for the incentive can be made from April 1 to April 30 and would take effect after the end of the order on March 31.
The total allocation for the initiative is RM52 million.
