KUALA LUMPUR, April 4 — The Prihatin Nasional Aid (BPN), previously announced by Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, will be disbursed in stages beginning Monday (April 6).

Finance Minister Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Abdul Aziz, in a statement today, said that the total allocated RM9.24 billion cash aid will be paid in two phases.

“I am pleased to announce that the first phase of the BPN, which will benefit 8.3 million household recipients and single individuals, have been approved.

“The first phase of payments with a total of RM5.63 billion will be disbursed in stages beginning April 6, 2020,” he said in the statement.

Zafrul had reminded the public to be wary of scammers who are taking advantage of the situation by deceiving those who are in need of financial aid.

“Recipients are advised to refer to official sources and to not disclose any information to unknown persons,” he said.

On March 27, Muhyiddin had revealed the RM250 billion Prihatin Rakyat Stimulus Package that would help cushion the economic impact caused by the Covid-19 pandemic.

Out of the total amount, RM128 billion is allocated to ensure the welfare of the people.
