Klang Municipal Council appoints new president

SHAH ALAM, April 10 — Dr Ahmad Fadzli Ahmad Tajuddin has been appointed the Klang Municipal Council (MPK) president for a two-year term, effective yesterday.

He also heads the National Institute of Public Administration management development and innovation cluster, the Star Online reported.

During his official visit to the municipality, yesterday, Ahmad Fadzli had distributed face masks and basic necessities to local councillors and MPK’s Islamic Workers Welfare Association.

He also held his first meeting with MPK heads of department and was briefed on the current Covid-19 outbreak and measures taken by the council.

“Social distancing, being indoors and frequent hand-washing is important. I urge all Klangites to work from home as Covid-19 cases continue to increase and cause deaths,” Ahmad Fadzli was quoted by the English daily, reminding that the residents should put on the masks, use alcohol-based hand sanitisers or latex gloves as precautionary measures.

“Based on the Health Ministry’s data, Klang district has some 219 cases.”

Born in Ipoh, Ahmad Fadzli holds a doctorate in Business Administration.

He had taken after former president Datuk Mohamad Yasid Bidin, who was transferred out in mid-November 2019 and is now the Community Development Department (Kemas) director-general.

Council secretary Elya Marini Darmin stood in as acting president in the interim during the three months the post was left vacant.

Ahmad Fadzli was also previously the Malaysian Institute of Integrity (Integriti) acting president and chief executive officer.
