Pemadam creates donation fund for Zoo Negara

By Ashwin Kumar

SHAH ALAM, April 14 — Selangor Drug Prevention Association (Pemadam) has created a special fund to collect donations to help pay for food supplies for the animals in Zoo Negara.

The community service project formed in collaboration with a non-governmental organisation (NGO), Suspended Meal, aimed to provide sufficient food supplies for the zoo.

Selangor Pemadam on its official Facebook account said the project was launched yesterday and will be available until April 30.

“Let us work together to preserve Zoo Negara as Malaysia’s productive rehabilitation and conservation centre,” the statement read.

People who wish to contribute to the fund can transfer the donations to the Pemadam Negeri Selangor CIMB account (account number – 8001940436) and note ‘Derma ZN’ as the payment reference.

For further inquiries, the public can contact Nadjwa at 012-9320812 or Whatsapp Sarah at 011-27224764 or email to [email protected].

Zoo Negara recently initiated the Adopt An Animal campaign after failing to cover its operating costs due to the loss in revenue collected from entry ticket sales, space rentals and corporate sponsorships following its temporary closure during the ongoing movement control order.

The zoo, which houses over 4,000 animals, said it has enough funds to sustain for only three months.
