State govt reviews drive-thru agro market process to avoid congestion

By Sheeda Fathil

SHAH ALAM, April 26 — The state government is reviewing the process of the Selangor Agro Market @ Controlled Fresh Market in Bandar Baru Bangi to avoid congestion in the area as well as taking into account the health and safety factors of the public.

Selangor Public Amenities, Agricultural Modernisation and Agro-based Industry Committee chairman Izham Hashim said the state administration is looking into allowing a 15-minute time frame for each customer.

“We will look into how to speed up the drive-through retailing process as we do not want there to be congestion. At the same time, we want to ensure that the customers get to buy the fresh products in a controlled situation,” he told the media when met at the community business centre in Bandar Baru Bangi, yesterday.

Izham said the pre-order concept also helps the customers in saving time at the market.

“We are looking at several aspects to improve the process immediately so that it can operate systematically,” he said.

The drive-through fresh market allows customers to place their orders every Wednesday and Sunday for early preparation of the fresh products during the movement control order (MCO) period.

Izham said the state government is mulling to expand the agro markets in several other areas to ensure that the people have ease of access to affordable fresh produce
