Over 70 pct from Selangor Covid-19 Fund has been disbursed

SHAH ALAM, May 15 — More than 70 per cent of the Selangor Covid-19 Fund has been channelled to help those affected by the Covid-19 pandemic since it was launched on April 1.

Selangor Menteri Besar Incorporated (MBI) chief executive officer Soffan Affendi said the fund had attracted almost RM6 million from various contributors.

“We have disbursed some of the donations to the frontliners. Insya Allah (God willing), we will also channel to the asnaf (tithe recipients) who were directly impacted by the Covid-19 crisis, involving some 2,000 individuals.

“The contribution will be given in the form of cash as well as essential goods,” he told SelangorKini today.

Earlier, Selangor Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari had received financial donations from six companies, with a total contribution of RM485,000, at his official residence today.

The companies that made the financial donations are YTL Power which contributed RM300,000; TNG Sdn Bhd (RM55,000), Emkay Recreational Club (RM50,000), Affin Hwang Investment Bank Berhad (RM30,000), and Setia Haruman Sdn Bhd (RM50,000).

Maxis Berhad had contributed SMS (short message service) worth RM500,000.
