SHAH ALAM, June 4 — The Selangor government has allocated a total of RM54,810 financial assistance for the six families affected by the landslide at Taman Kelab Ukay, Bukit Antarabangsa.

Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari said the fund will be distributed as follow:

  • RM500 financial aid for each of the six families, which amounts to a total of RM3,000
  • RM1,000 rental financial assistance for each family for six months, with a total sum of RM36,000
  • Temporary accommodation at the De Palma Hotel in Ampang for 31 residents since May 30, which brings a total cost of RM15,810

Amirudin said the Selangor Economic Action Council (MTES) had today also agreed on the additional funds of RM 433,800 allocated for the repair works to strengthen the Sungai Sering riverbank, which will be carried out by the Selangor Irrigation and Drainage Department.

“The state government will also carry out a detailed study on the affected area as there had been several landslide incidents in the area in the last few years.

“A consultant will be appointed to conduct the study, which will include determining the high-risk area, as well as analyse and review the continuous crucial mitigation measures on slope protection that are based on scientific data,” he said in a statement today.

Amirudin added that the consultant will be appointed by the Selangor and Federal Territories Minerals and Geoscience Department and the Ampang Jaya Municipal Council (MPAJ).

On May 30, the Selangor Fire and Rescue Department was alerted of the landslide incident in Bukit Antarabangsa at 2.21am and arrived at the scene at 2.33am.

The landslide was reported to have occurred following continuous rain, resulting in soil movement in the area.
