SHAH ALAM, Oct 6: A total of 92 water tank trucks have been deployed to critical premises, schools as well as residential areas, says the Pengurusan Air Selangor Sdn Bhd (Air Selangor).
Its corporate communication head Elina Baseri said 22 static tanks, 10 refilling stations, 13 public taps and nine local service centres (PKS) are also provided for the affected consumers.
“The testing of the samples taken from the intake of the Sungai Semenyih Water Treatment Plant recorded a reading of 0 TON (threshold odour number) three consecutive times, while the reading from the Bukit Tampoi Water Treatment Plant read 2 TON at 6am this morning,” said Elina in a statement today.
Elina said the raw water-pumping operations at the Sungai Semenyih Water Treatment Plant to clean the water pipes and treatment tanks have started this morning.
She said the process to treat polluted water and stabilise the system would take 12 hours before the quality of the water is tested by the Health Ministry and then distributed to the users.
“The water supply recovery will be done in stages. Information on the water disruption will be updated on Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and on our website at www.airselangor.com, as well as the Air Selangor smartphone application,” she said.
Following the temporary closures of Sungai Semenyih and Bukit Tampoi water treatment plants yesterday, as many as 274 areas involving 309,687 account users across the districts of Petaling, Hulu Langat, Kuala Langat and Sepang are facing unscheduled water cuts.
