SHAH ALAM, Oct 17 — A leakage at a pipe channelling treated water has forced the temporary closure of the Sungai Selangor Water Treatment Plant Phase 1 (LRA SSP1) in order for repair works to be carried out.

Pengurusan Air Selangor Sdn Bhd (Air Selangor) said a total of 686 areas in the Petaling, Gombak, Klang/Shah Alam, Kuala Lumpur and Hulu Selangor districts will be experiencing unscheduled water disruption due to the leakage.

“Water supply will be shut at 9pm tonight. The water supply will be restored in stages after the repair works are completed and the water treatment plant resumes operations at 2pm tomorrow (Sunday),” it said in a statement today.

Air Selangor noted that the repair works are expected to be completed tomorrow morning at 8am.

“Users are encouraged to store enough water before the water supply is shut and to use water prudently,” it said.

Updates on the incident will be updated via the Air Selangor social media platforms on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram, its phone application, as well as its website at www.airselangor.com.
