KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 7 — The conditional movement control order (CMCO) will be imposed in Klang, Selangor beginning October 9 to check the increasing number of Covid-19 cases, said Senior Minister (Security Cluster) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob.
Ismail added the same CMCO will also be imposed in Sandakan, Papar and Tuaran in Sabah.
He said the CMCO would be enforced for 14 days in these red zones to enable targeted case detection activities to be carried out.
“Movements in and out of these four CMCO areas will be banned. Only essential services including factories and the related services network will be allowed.
“The Ministry of International Trade and Industry (MITI) will list out the essential services concerned in these areas,” he said at a media conference streamed live from his home via the Defence Ministry Facebook page today.
He said the standard operating procedure (SOP) for the affected areas includes allowing two members from a house to go out and get food and household supplies, closure of non-essential services, and limiting the operation hours of restaurants, grocery shops and convenience stores to between 6am and 6pm.
Ismail Sabri said no sports, social and religious activities would be allowed while taxi, e-hailing and food delivery services can operate only from 6am to 8pm.
“Express and stage bus services are also not allowed to operate. Residents in the affected areas are not allowed to leave for work throughout the CMCO period. Employers should respect this order and allow their workers to take leave or work from home,” he added.
Meanwhile, he said the targeted enhanced movement control order (TEMCO) for Tongkang Yard Flats in Seberang Perak would be lifted at 12.01am on October 8 after no new cases of Covid-19 were recorded for a seven-day period from September 28.
On September 25 the government ended the TEMCO in Kota Setar, Kedah but extended that in Tongkang Yard Flats.
Ismail Sabri also said the Attorney-General’s Chambers had allowed police officers with the rank of inspector and above to issue compound fines on the spot to individuals who breach the Covid-19 SOP.
On compulsory quarantine, he said that from July 24 until yesterday 42,526 individuals had returned to the country via international gateways.
“Of this number, 9,522 individuals are undergoing mandatory quarantine at 66 hotels and 13 other premises including public training institutes and private education institutions. A total of 106 individuals were taken to hospital for treatment while 32,898 were discharged and allowed to return home,” he added.
