SHAH ALAM, Oct 26 — The conditional movement control order (CMCO) in Selangor, Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya has been extended by another 14 days taking into account the present Covid-19 situation in the Klang Valley.

The announcement was made today by Senior Minister (Security Cluster) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob during his daily press briefing broadcasted live on Facebook.

“Looking at the risk evaluation that was conducted by the Health Ministry, there are areas that were found to be high-risk locations of Covid-19 transmission, whether in Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya and even in Selangor.

“Taking this into account, the government has agreed to extend the enforcement of the CMCO in Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya, and Selangor, for 14 days beginning October 27 until November 9, 2020,” he said.

Ismail Sabri added that the previously implemented standard operating procedures (SOP) are applicable during the extension period.

Earlier today, Selangor Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari had said that the state government is prepared for an extension of the CMCO that is scheduled to end tomorrow.

The 14-day CMCO in the Klang Valley, which started on October 14 and was supposed to end on October 27, was enforced following the surge in Covid-19 cases.

Meanwhile, the National Security Council (NSC) special meeting today had agreed to implement CMCO in Nilai, Negeri Sembilan, from October 28 to November 10 due to the spike in positive Covid-19 infections among foreigners in the area.

Ismail Sabri said the meeting had also agreed to impose the enhanced movement control order (EMCO) in Taman Mesra and Taman Mawar in Sandakan, Sabah, from October 28 to November 10, which involves 22,500 residents in 5,100 houses.

The two-week EMCO will also be imposed in Putra Point Nilai, Negeri Sembilan, involving two workers’ hostel localities, which contributed to the increase in the number of positive cases of Covid-19, namely at Jalan BBN 1/7B and Jalan BBN 1/7F, as well as Jalan BBN 1/2E, beginning October 28.

Ismail Sabri added the EMCO in Taman Khazanah Indah and Mutiara Kasih Apartment in Lahad Datu, as well as in Felda Umas, Kalabakan, Sabah is also extended for another two weeks starting tomorrow.
