By Zareef Muzammil

SHAH ALAM, Oct 1 — The public is advised to put on hold meeting with individuals who have recently returned from Sabah to curb the spread of Covid-19, says Dr Siti Mariah Mahmud.

State Health, Welfare, Women and Family Empowerment Committee chairman had also urged the people of Selangor to reduce engaging in public activities unless for work purposes or to get daily necessities.

“We hope that the people would be cautious especially those who have friends or relatives travelling from Sabah. It is best to avoid meeting them and wait for at least 14 days from the date of their return.

“The public is also advised to not bring children and senior citizens to public places. All school, kindergartens, and childcare centres must also take strict precautionary measures,” she said.

Yesterday, Selangor registered 10 new infections, of four had involved those who were screened upon returning from Sabah.

Following the surge in new Covid-19 cases in Selangor, five districts are now a yellow zone, namely, Klang with 17 active cases, Hulu Langat (15), Petaling (12), Hulu Selangor (6) and one case in Kuala Langat.

Dr Siti Mariah had also reminded the public to continue keeping a social distance, practice good personal hygiene, do not shake hands, wear the protective face masks, and avoid crowded areas.
