RAWANG, Oct 9 — Selangor approved a total of RM17 billion of investment in the manufacturing sector in 2019, which was the highest in the country.

Invest Selangor Berhad chief executive officer Dato’ Hassan Azhari Idris said the investment covers 315 projects and created 21,085 job opportunities.

“The investment from domestic and international is a testament of Selangor’s economic achievement which provides job opportunities for its citizens’ livelihood,” said Hassan after officiating the groundbreaking ceremony for Daikin Malaysia Centralised Distribution Hub here yesterday.

He said numerous initiatives were implemented by the Selangor government in the local and international market to attract and gain investors’ confidence to choose the state for their investment.

“This includes focusing on managing the application process so that investors’ dealings can be enhanced and simplified,” he said.

On August 6, Selangor Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari announced Selangor contributed 24.2 per cent to the national GDP in 2019, thus maintaining the pole position it held in the past few years.

He said that it was an increase of 0.5 per cent compared to the 23.7 per cent recorded in the same period two years ago.
