Water supply recovered in 185 areas — Air Selangor

SHAH ALAM, Oct 7 – 185 areas or 68 per cent out of 274 areas affected by the unscheduled water cut have their water supply fully restored as of 12.30pm today, says Pengurusan Air Selangor Sdn Bhd (Air Selangor).

Its corporate communication head Elina Baseri said 89 areas in affected districts including Petaling, Hulu Langat, Kuala Langat, Sepang and Putrajaya are still in the recovery process.

“Air Selangor is taking actions to stabilise the distribution system to recover water supply to areas that are still affected,” she said in a statement today.

Elina said Sepang and Putrajaya has reached 80 per cent recovery rate, followed by Hulu Langat (74 per cent), Kuala Langat (55 per cent), and Petaling 51 per cent.

“The TON (threshold odour number) reading of the samples taken from the intake of the Bukit Tampoi Water Treatment Plant had read 0-TON three times in a row since 8.00am today,” she said.

“As such, the raw water pump in the water treatment plant had started operating since 9.45am for the cleaning process of the raw water piping and the water treatment tanks,” she added.

The Bukit Tampoi Water Treatment Plant is expected to resume water supply distribution to the consumers by 8.00pm.

Users are advised to use water wisely to ensure a smooth recovery process to areas still affected by water disruption.
