456 individuals defy SOP yesterday — Ismail Sabri

KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 6 — A total of 456 individuals were issued compound by the police yesterday for defying the prescribed standard operating procedures (SOP) to curb the spread of Covid-19 during the recovery movement control order (RMCO).

Senior Minister (Security Cluster) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob, in a statement on RMCO today, said most of them were caught not wearing the face, totalling 143 individuals.

He said compound notices were also issued for failing to exercise social distancing or engaging in activities that made physical distancing difficult (137), failure to provide equipment or recording personal details at premises (77) and other offences (99).

On the ongoing Op Benteng to curb the entry of illegal immigrants at the country’s borders, Ismail Sabri said 27 illegal immigrants and two tekong (agents) were arrested and nine vehicles seized.

Meanwhile, Ismail Sabri said as of last July 24 until yesterday, 61,612 individuals have returned to Malaysia and were placed under quarantine at 65 hotels and 19 other premises, including the Public Training Institute as well as public and private educational institutions nationwide.

“Of that number, a total of 9,312 individuals are undergoing compulsory quarantine, while 384 individuals are sent to hospital for treatment. A total of 51,916 individuals were discharged and allowed to return home, ”he said.

As for public sanitation operations, he said 42 operations, covering 13 states were conducted yesterday.

Ismail Sabri said the Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Ministry also conducted checks on the supply of 12 types of goods at 686 business premises, including retail outlets (492), wholesalers (167) and manufacturers (27) yesterday.

Overall, he was satisfied with the supply of the goods concerned, saying that it was adequate and able to meet the country’s needs.
