SHAH ALAM, Nov 16 — The Menteri Besar Selangor Incorporated (MBI) has aimed to achieve four objectives through the state digitalisation initiatives, which was announced in the 2021 Selangor Budget.

Its digitalisation chief Kamarul Nizam Kassim said among the objectives are to create job opportunities and income while supporting small and medium enterprises.

He said the effort also includes forming new industries and wealth creation for the state government.

“The initiatives will open up more job and business opportunities which would in return create a new source of wealth for the people and the state.

“Some of the programmes include the Selangor Internet Data, Selangor Digital Friends (Rakan Digital Selangor), Selangor Careers, Selangor Freelancer and Selangor Advance,” said Kamarul Nizam during a recent talk show coordinated by Media Selangor.

He said MBI is also looking into collaborating with big companies that have certain expertise that would help in achieving the digitalisation agenda.

“We are also considering the use of the Selangor Innovation Fund to invest in startups that would be able to help boost state revenue,” he added.

The 2021 state budget has allocated a total of RM369 million for the Smart State and Digitalisation Agenda initiatives.
