GM Klang launches ‘Support local, shop local’ campaign

KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 26 — GM Klang Wholesale City has launched a year-end complex campaign dubbed ‘Support Local, Shop Local’ starting on November 23 till December 23 to encourage spending at local businesses.

Its corporate communication and public relations assistant manager, Nur Faezah Mohd Arsad, said their objective is to emphasise the importance of buying local and the positive impact on social-economic, besides making GM Klang the only option that pops in the consumers’ minds whenever considering a local purchase.

“It was also a mark of support for the Buy Malaysian Products campaign as advocated by the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs. 

“Shoppers can support locals by participating in GM Klang social media contest on Facebook or Instagram with simple steps such as uploading a photo of shopping local products, complete the caption of why Buy Malaysian Products campaign is great, followed by adding hashtags of #SupportLocalShopLocal and tag the GM Klang account,” she said in a statement yesterday.

Nur Faezah said ten winners will be chosen to receive cash vouchers of RM 7,000 in total to spend in GM Klang to buy local brands and products.

Meanwhile, its group managing director Datuk Lim Seng Kok said the campaign will also push GM Klang community to shop safely including adhering to standard operating procedures (SOP), utilising e-wallet or e-payment, or using delivery options during the conditional movement control order (CMCO) period.

“These local businesses have been there for us and now we need to be there for them during this CMCO times, especially year-end holiday months. It reinforces our responsibility and ability to provide a safe shopping environment,” he added.
