‘Jelajah Selangor Bekerja’: 117 participants pass interview

By Zareef Muzammil

SHAH ALAM, Nov 29 — A total of 117 participants who attended the ‘Jelajah Selangor Bekerja’ (Selangor Jobs Exploration 2020) programme have managed to land a job in various sectors.

State executive councillor for youth development Mohd Khairuddin Othman said of the total, 55 participants went for the interview in Kuala Selangor, followed by Gombak (49) and Sungai Buloh (13).

He said it was a positive development to have reached that figure in just within a month of the tour series.

“A total of 13,124 vacancies were offered from the 71 employers that took part in the last three tours. The state government wishes to thank the employers for helping provide job opportunities for the participants,” said Mohd Khairuddin after visiting the interview session at Dewan Utama Demesne at the Hulu Langat District Office, in Bandar Baru Bangi here today.

He said 3,669 job vacancies were offered in the fourth tour of the ‘Jelajah Selangor Bekerja’ in Hulu Langat today, involving 19 employers who conducted the online and physical interview process.

Mohd Khairuddin said the tour was held in accordance to strict standard operating procedures (SOP) from the National Security Council (NSC) which does not allow public gatherings.

“Despite facing constraints with the conditional movement control order (CMCO) it is not an excuse, as it is the responsibility of the state government to organise a job fair under the new norm to provide employment opportunities to youths,” he said.

The Selangor Jobs Exploration 2020 programme by the Selangor state government had received 9,969 applications since the registration opened on September 15.

Apart from Hulu Langat, the tour started in Kuala Selangor on November 15 followed by Gombak (November 21), Sungai Buloh (November 22) and will next be held in Shah Alam (December 5 and 6).

Among the employment opportunities offered include professor, lecturer, Quran tutors, accountant, sales manager, research officer, technician, meter reader, call centre operator, terminal tractor driver, supervisor and storekeeper.
