KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 6 — The Health Ministry (MOH) has detected three new Covid-19 clusters – one each in Sabah, Perak and Selangor/Kuala Lumpur.
Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said the new cluster in Sabah is the Mampulut Cluster in Keningau district, whose index case (case number 32,154) was confirmed positive from screening of symptomatic individuals on October 31.
The individual was admitted to the Low-Risk Covid-19 Quarantine and Treatment Centre at the Keningau Sports Complex in Sabah.
“Close contact screenings have detected 27 more positive cases and until today, a total of 32 individuals have been tested, with 28 showing up positive for Covid-19 including 12 cases today, while 181 individuals were tested negative,” he said in a statement on Covid-19 updates today.
For the Rengas Cluster in Perak, Dr Noor Hisham said it was detected in Kuala Kangsar district involving two index cases, the 36,426th and 36,427th cases, who were detected from screening of symptomatic individuals on November 4.
Dr Noor Hisham said the infected individuals were admitted to Raja Permaisuri Bainun Hospital and the close contact screening detected another seven positive cases.
“As of November 6, a total of 290 individuals had been screened with nine cases confirmed positive including seven new cases (today), while 281 individuals are waiting for their results,” he said.
Besides that, the Fores Cluster has been detected in the Petaling, Gombak and Klang districts in Selangor and Kepong district in Kuala Lumpur.
Dr Noor Hisham said the index case for the cluster (25,475th case) was a severe acute respiratory infection (SARI) case who was confirmed Covid-19 positive on October 17 and admitted to Sungai Buloh Hospital.
“Close contact screening detected another 19 positive cases. Until noon today, 190 individuals had been screened with 20 cases confirmed positive including five new cases, while 70 were found to be negative, while 100 individuals are waiting for their results,” he said.
Meanwhile, three Covid-19 clusters officially ended today, namely, the Bah Lada Cluster in Perak, Atap Cluster in Sabah and Bah Sahabat Cluster in Terengganu.
Dr Noor Hisham said no fatalities were recorded from the three clusters.
“The 56 people from the Bah Lada Cluster include four positive cases, while the positivity rate for the cluster is 7.14 per cent.
“With regard to the Atap Cluster, until today, 48 people have been screened with four positive cases detected and a positivity rate of 8.33 per cent,” he said.
Dr Noor Hisham added that 53 people from the Bah Sahabat Cluster were screened, with 11 of them confirmed positive while the positivity rate was 20.75 per cent.
