FMM: Sigh of relief as emergency order will not hamper business operations

KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 12 — The Federation of Malaysian Manufacturers (FMM) has lauded the government for allowing businesses to function during the nationwide state of emergency which is expected to last until August 1, 2021.

Its president Tan Sri Soh Thian Lai said the business fraternity fully noted the state of emergency proclamation by the Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah earlier today as a measure to contain the Covid-19 pandemic in the country.

“The industry believes that the Covid-19 vaccinations to be received soon and the current layered implementation of the movement control order (MCO) should effectively cut the chain of Covid-19 transmission and that the emergency order could be withdrawn as soon as possible,” he said in a statement today.

In the meantime, FMM reminded the business fraternity and industries to strictly observe the Covid-19 precautionary measures and be vigilant in adhering to the standard operating procedures.
