Eight issued compounds for partying in Petaling Jaya

SHAH ALAM, Feb 11 — Eight individuals were issued with RM1,000 compound each for violating the movement control order (MCO) at an entertainment outlet in Dataran Mentari, Petaling Jaya, on Tuesday.

Petaling Jaya district police chief Nik Ezanee Mohd Faisal said all the individuals were local men aged between 30 and 57.

“Four individuals who were the owners of the premises and workers as well as two foreign female customers were remanded between three and 14 days.

“The case was investigated according to the Immigration 1959/63 Act under Section 55B, Excise Act 1976 under Section 76, and the Penal Code under Section 269,” said Nik Ezanee through a statement yesterday.

He said in the 8.45pm raid, the police also seized 10 bottles of alcoholic beverages of various brands as well as three electronic devices for entertainment purposes.

Yesterday, Senior Minister (Security Cluster) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob had emphasised that the entertainment sector involving nightclubs, pubs and karaoke centres are yet to be allowed to operate throughout the MCO period since last year.
