Selangor contributes RM2 mln to CNY e-bazaar campaign

SHAH ALAM, Feb 2 — The Selangor government has allocated RM2 million in shopping vouchers for the Selangor e-Bazar Chinese New Year (CNY) campaign.

Its Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari said the public can redeem the vouchers for the online sales campaign starting March 7.

“To add more joy to the Chinese New Year celebration this year, this campaign has been launched to encourage online shopping through the Shopee and Lazada e-commerce platforms.

“More than 20,000 small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) are expected to offer all kinds of products of choice for the public during the festive season,” he said on Facebook.

On January 26, state executive councillor for industry and commerce Dato’ Teng Chang Khim said the campaign targets the onboarding of 25,000 new participants from the micro-enterprise and the SME sectors, including 12,500 new online traders during CNY.

He added that the initiative aims to spur the process of digitalisation among businesses, especially amid the Covid-19 pandemic aside from preparing a safe platform where users are able to access a variety of goods for a reasonable value.
