Red Giants still has a chance to challenge Super League title

By Khairul Azran Hussin

SHAH ALAM, March 23 — The appointment of a new import coach and a short preparation period are among the factors for Selangor FC’s lacklustre start to the 2021 Super League, said its manager Mahfizul Rusydin.

He, however, said it was too early to reject the Red Giants’ chance to challenge for the championship or to occupy the best team group this season.

“The league competition has just entered the fifth match and we are confident that Selangor FC will be able to rise because this team has good players in every position.

“Besides that, we also show the recording of the match to the players, this is important because they can evaluate their performance,” he told SelangorKini today.

On calls by supporters to rest head coach Karsten Neitzel, he said it was unfair to place the blame on certain individuals because football is a team game.

Selangor FC only collected five points from one win, two draws and two defeats after five matches.

Selangor Football Association (FAS) appointed Karsten Neitzel as the head coach. He has experience managing Bochum VFL, SV Eleversberg as well as bringing Holstein Kiel to the German League second division.
