Malaysian para shuttlers claim three titles in Dubai

KUALA LUMPUR, April 5 — Malaysian para shuttlers clinched three titles at the third Fazza-Dubai Para Badminton International tournament in United Arab Emirates, yesterday.

Six-time men’s singles world champion Cheah Liek Hou bagged the SU5 (Standing /upper limb impairment) after bouncing back to beat Indonesian Dheva Anrimusthi 14-21, 22-20, 21-18 in a battle lasting over an hour.

In the men’s singles WH1 (wheelchair) category final, Muhammad Ikhwan Ramli defeated Frenchman David Toupe 23-21, 21-3, according to the Badminton World Federation’s (BWF) official website https://bwfpara.tournamentsoftware.com.

Meanwhile, Noor Azwan Noorlan secured the men’s singles WH2 after overpowering Rick Cornell Hellmann 18-21, 21-18, 21-12 in the match that lasted one hour and seven minutes.

However, Didin Taresoh had to be satisfied with second place after losing to Nagar Krishna of India 17-21, 18-21 in the combined SH6 (standing/short stature) classifications.
