Selangor to implement targeted Covid-19 screening in hotspots soon

By Khairul Azran Hussin

KAJANG, April 23  Selangor will implement targeted Covid-19 screenings in hotspots in the near future, says Selangor Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari.

He said the effort is to prevent the transmission of the disease from getting worse, ahead of the Hari Raya celebration, or the outbreak of the fourth wave of Covid-19 infections.

“I just had a meeting with the Education Minister Dr Mohd Radzi Md Jidin, we raised concerns about the school or education centres clusters.

“We are collecting data on teachers, students and parents who were involved, God willing, in a day or two we will get the full details and will track them,” he said after officiating the Bandar Baru Bangi Laman Niaga Komuniti yesterday.

Previously, Selangor had announced the closure of 19 schools for seven days beginning Monday to curb the spread of Covid-19.

The action is from a proposal by the Selangor government to the Education Ministry following the increase in cases involving school students.
